Use an advanced power strip for convenience; that way all of your computer accessories are turned off by one switch (even in sleep mode, your computer may cost your $105 a year)
Do not leave equipment in sleep mode overnight because it will continue to draw a small amount of power. Turn off all equipment every night – especially monitors and printers. Monitors usually consume twice the electricity as CPUs.
To maximize savings with a laptop, put the AC adapter on a power strip that can be turned off (or will turn off automatically); the transformer in the AC adapter draws power continuously, even when the laptop is not plugged into the adaptor
Unplug battery chargers when the batteries are fully charged for the chargers are not in use.
Turn off your computer and monitor when not in use.
